The short version
What's fine?
Games are allowed to be weird, silly, scary and competitive. Cartoon or game-style violence, shooters, horror, crude humour, dark themes, and parody or commentary are all fine. Mark mature themes in your title, description or tags so players know what to expect.
What isn't allowed?
- Any sexual content involving minors. Zero tolerance: we remove it, close the account and report it to the authorities.
- Sexually explicit content, including nudity and pornography.
- Graphic real-world violence: gore meant to shock, real tragedies or attacks made into games, glorifying terrorism or mass violence, or encouraging self-harm.
- Harassment and bullying: games or text that target, mock or threaten real, identifiable people, or share their personal details.
- Hate: attacking people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or similar.
- Malware, phishing and scams: games that try to break out of their sandbox, mine crypto, trick players into giving passwords, payment or personal details, or send them to harmful sites.
- Impersonation: pretending to be another person, creator, brand or PlayNerva itself.
- Infringing other people's rights: copying someone else's game, characters, art, music, logos or brand without permission. Remixing a PlayNerva game that allows remixes is fine; that's what it's for.
- Spam: mass-produced or near-duplicate games, misleading titles or tags, or games made to advertise something.
- Anything else illegal, or that promotes illegal drugs, weapons or gambling with real money.
How do I report a game?
Every game page has a Report link. Sign in, pick a reason and add details if they help. You can report a game once while your report is open. The reasons are:
- Sexual content
- Graphic violence
- Harassment or bullying
- Hate speech
- Malware, phishing or scams
- Impersonation
- Spam
- It's broken
- Something else
When several different players report the same game, it's taken out of the catalog automatically until we've reviewed it. If a game puts someone in danger, or for anything urgent, also write to [email protected].
What happens if I break the rules?
We screen prompts before building, so some requests are refused straight away. After that, depending on how serious it is, we may unlist, unpublish or remove a game, remove leaderboard entries, limit what you can do, or suspend or close your account. Serious cases, like sexual content involving minors, lead to an immediate ban.
If you think we made a mistake, write to [email protected] with the game's link and why, and a person will look at it again.
How do I report copyright infringement?
If you believe a game on PlayNerva copies your work without permission, send a notice to [email protected]. It must include:
- your name, postal address, phone number and email;
- the work you own, or a link to it;
- the link to each PlayNerva game or page you say infringes it;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised by you, your agent or the law;
- a statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you own the right or are authorised to act for the owner;
- your physical or electronic signature.
We'll remove or disable the material and tell the creator, sending them a copy of your notice. Sending a false notice can make you liable for damages.
Counter-notice
If your game was removed and you believe that was a mistake, or that you had the right to use the material, send a counter-notice to [email protected] with: your name, address, phone number and email; the removed game's link; a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification; your consent to the jurisdiction of the courts for your address (or, outside the United States, any place where we may be found) and to accept service from the person who sent the notice; and your signature. Unless the complainant tells us within 10 to 14 business days that they've gone to court, we may restore the game.
Repeat infringers
We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe others' rights.
